Watercolored Gems Shift - $168
I loved and hated this dress. I love the color and style but hate the fabric and print. I tried on a size 2 here since there was no 0 but I'm not sure I would have fit into a 0. If I did I think it would be pretty tight around the bust since this material has zero stretch to it. On the plus side, the thick fabric hides figure flaws but I feel like I'm wearing burlap - pretty burlap but burlap nonetheless. I thought it fit me well but the more I looked at it, the more I thought I look like I got attacked by bingo daubers and now I can't get that out of my head.

Ruched Martins Dress - $168
When this dress first went online I was quite enamored with it. I love girly dresses like this even though I don't have many occasions in which to wear such a frock. In person it was a different story. I didn't realize the print was of birds. If any of you have read my reviews in the past, you know I don't do animal printed clothing. So that was one strike against it. I tried on a size 2 here and while it fit (minus the rather long nonadjustable straps) I thought the dress proportion was all wrong on me - the straps were too long, the torso too short, the skirt too long and puffy. I look squat. The dress itself is well made of a sturdy cotton and the embroidery is well stitched on. I'm sure this dress looks fantastic on others but it's a pass for me.

Torchon Embossed Ponte Dress - $128
The ponte on this dress was quite soft and flowed much better than the ponte on the Noon & Night/Embossed Basket Dresses. However, the sizing is a little large. I tried on an XS and found I had quite the gap in the back of the dress. Petite ladies, you are sized out unless you don't mind alterations. I like this dress but not enough.

Flared Neovison Dress - $128
A subtle animal print version of the Torchon dress above. Again it was soft and flowed well but rather large fitting. I thought the fit was worse on this one - you don't see it here but the arm holes were big enough that my bra was exposed.

Four Corner Shirtdress - $138
I don't normally do shirtdresses but thought I'd give this one a go. I liked the longer hem in the back. From the front and side I thought the dress was cute but I thought it was a complete fail from the back view. Not good at all. The material felt somewhat flimsy to me and there wasn't any stretch to it if I remember correctly.

All I could think when I had it on was crack fairy ballerina. I would get laughed at for wearing such a thing. The slip was flimsy and the outer layer was some tulle with some beading/sequins. Yuck. I also have to note it's almost $200!! What the?! Give me $5 of netting and a bedazzler and I could probably come up with something better.

Smocked Mini Dress - $148
I thought the color of this dress was very spring like and again I liked the asymmetric hemline but the top portion of this dress was way too puffy on me. This is for someone with a longer torso than myself. I tried on a 0 or XS. I'm starting to think this Leifnotes/Leifsdottir line is not for me. I haven't purchased a single item from this brand.
That's it. That might be it for reviews for awhile unless Anthro manages to pick it up a little. It doesn't seem like that will be the case though with April items being rolled out on the website. There's still nothing that grabs me and feels like a must-have. What do you think? Am I being overly critical or do you feel the same way?

Thanks for the reviews. Nothing grabs me either. I think you have a critical eye but so do I, so I really like your reviews. I've tried on a few of these dresses and the only one I liked was the 2nd one. I'm 5'10" so the length of the dress and straps worked on me. Have you considered trying the petite version which is online?
ReplyDeleteI think I had the Crack Fairy Dress. When I was 5 and taking ballet classes. In the 1970s...
ReplyDeleteI'm not feeling any of these either, but the first one looks awesome on you!
ReplyDeletekathy: Thanks for the feedback! If I liked the dress enough, perhaps I'd try the petite version. However it just doesn't interest me enough to pay for shipping.
ReplyDeletecagliari67: Haha, I think I also had a version when I was 5! Some things are not meant to be re-lived.
Cat: Thanks, I just wish I liked the fabric it was made of.
I tried on the dot gleam dress yesterday and had the exact same reaction as you.
ReplyDeleteThe flared neovision dress just has to have a belt.
ReplyDeleteLiana: Good to know I wasn't the only one!
ReplyDeleteAnon: Agreed it likely needs some accessorizing but the dress itself was a little too big for me.
